Community’s New Executive Director
Forest Hill Heights is proud to welcome Shanell Smith as the community’s new Executive Director. With more than 20 years of experience in senior living and healthcare leadership, Shanell brings a deep passion for compassionate care, staff development, and creating meaningful experiences for seniors and their families.
Shanell’s journey in senior living began as a caregiver and medication technician, giving her firsthand experience supporting residents and understanding the importance of person-centered care. Throughout her career, she has advanced through leadership roles in Sales and Marketing, Memory Care, Executive Leadership, and Operations leading to a strong foundation of knowledge and experience across every level.
Before joining Forest Hill Heights, Shanell served as Vice President of Operations overseeing nine senior living communities across Virginia and Maryland. Her leadership experience, combined with her dedication to dementia care and operational excellence, makes her an exciting addition to team.
As a Certified Dementia Practitioner, Shanell remains especially passionate about supporting residents living with memory loss while helping families feel informed, confident, and connected throughout their loved one’s journey. Her leadership philosophy reflects the compassionate culture Forest Hill Heights strives to provide each day.
